There are moments in time where the world just stops. Everything freezes and you're just standing there, trying to figure out what in the hell is going on. It's nothing like you see in the movies where the boy of your dreams is standing in front of you, just smiling, waiting for you to run into his arms. The world doesn't spin around you as you stare in absolute awe of the person across from you. And there are most certainly no fireworks going off in the background.
These moments suck. They're terrible, soul sucking moments where it's more like your brain can't catch up with the world. Like Earth herself knows that you need a minute to process what's going on, so she stops and gives you a second. But, in this second you can't breathe, your heart stops, and your head just keeps running, spinning out of control. Your body doesn't know what's going on, so it freezes.
These world stopping moments aren't for the viewing pleasure of some audience in a theater, munching on popcorn waiting for some life changing kiss so that they can cry and cheer and feel better about their prospects in life. The moment the world stops... you know something bad just happened.
So this is where our story starts, with my world stopping.
