A castaway from a very successful family, that's how Maxon Schreave was described. From London, all the way to Queens, Brooklyn, life was just as cruel as he'd thought it would be. He has never been the type to talk all the way, neither was he the guy who could express his feelings out loud. The mysterious trend from all around campus, the guy who felt the echoes of murmurs as he passed by, yet, he was still the guy all girls were dying for. With his silky, sleek black hair, his face which reeked the most hard-earned effort of casualness, his Circassian blue eyes which spilled like galaxies from far above, and his aura which resembled the strong and silent type, he was sure to remain the school's deepest mystery. No one knew anything about the man behind the music, but one girl was determined to find out. A product of both happiness and grief, Helena was well known as the image of a Silicon Barbie Doll, the campus-wide heartthrob, and the girl who looked like a dream. Pretty much everyone knew her, but she had her eyes fixed on Max only. She's never tried falling in love before, but she learned to not stare for too long, it weakened her somehow. So with all the strength she could muster, she averts her gaze before even falling into eye contact with him. Will she be the one to solve him? Or will he remain the introvert and the subject of each dreaded conversation?

Prologue A long time ago, there was a girl with her short height who always spent her break time the same way quietly tucked away in her secret place under the tree, reading her notes. Every day, without fail, sometimes she sat alone by the window in the farthest corner of the classroom, hidden behind a curtain of silence and sunlight. The world outside bustled with chatter and footsteps, but in her little corner, time seemed to slow down. She always wore her earphones, soft music playing just loud enough to drown out the noise. Her long black hair fell gently over her shoulders, framing a face that was too often lost in thought. She didn't care how she looked why would she? She believed no one was watching. To her, this moment of peace belonged only to her. But she was wrong. She didn't know that someone had been watching her all along. A boy. He sat a few rows away, quiet and unnoticed just like her. Day after day, he observed her from a distance, curious and drawn to the way she seemed so content in her own world. He didn't know her name. He didn't know her story. But something about her made him pause, made him want to understand the silence she lived in. What she didn't know was that he would soon become the one to change everything she believed about herself. He would be the one to break her quiet world And he would be the one to show her that happiness still exists in this world.
