George lived a normal life. That was until he started getting creepy "gifts" in front of his door every morning. These gifts in question were normal things like teddy bears and flowers, accompanied by notes which looked as if they were written with blood. The notes began with simple compliments and got scarier over time. George noticed one thing about the notes: they were signed with a smile. For this story, I had to do research on protanopia (George's colorblindness) just to make sure I had the colors correct but I am still not clear about everything, if I have something wrong, please tell me.

Fuck. That grey puff of smoke follows him everywhere. The scent of cigarettes sticks everywhere, and it always reminds me of him. But it's not him. I haven't seen him in six years, but a simple puff of smoke on the London streets takes me back to that gas station all those years ago. Ski Masks. Cigarettes. Me. Matty. It all feels like yesterday. Until it all fell apart. I remember the last thing he said to me, "you look so cool". This was before his band got big. Before I went back to school and established my own career, making a name for myself. I smell it before I see him. It's been six damn years and here he is, standing in my doorway that damn cigarette hanging off his lip. Matty fucking Healy.

George didn't expect much of his life. He come to be rather complacent with the ways things had turned out to be. He wasn't unhappy, per se, just very uninspired by the world around him. He found himself with little more than vague enthusiasm towards a select few things in his life. Perhaps he'd thought he was okay with that, and that he'd live his life amounting to very little at all. Perhaps he really had thought that, but that was before he'd met Matty. Matty didn't expect much of himself. He'd fall out of trust with the world, and came to bury the person he'd once been deep inside himself, under a mess of arrogance and over spoken ideas about the way things should be. Everything was bullshit - love, family, being a 'functioning member of society', and perhaps it didn't look like he was ever going to get far with his life. Perhaps he'd thought he was okay with that: with locking up who he really was inside everything he'd wanted to be. Perhaps he really had believed that, but that was before he'd met George. Neither of them had much cared for change, but the thing was that change never did stop to ask for your opinion before it happened.
