Joy has a lot on her plate. Her grandfather has growing dementia, and her best friend is acting really weird. Not to mention, used to being on top of her class, now in AP classes, it like she's at the bottom of the ladder. She wants nothing to do with anything that requires her to think.

Julian's life is over. Moving from New York with his family to Illinois, because it's "cheaper" and "we can open the restaurant that we always wanted". He's not happy. Now he doesn't know what to do, and he has no friends. But his parents have better plans than moping around. His time is filled with working at their new restaurant and being in school, it's super dull and repetitive.

On another day when no one is home, Joy, her sister, and best friend try out this new restaurant. The food is good, but the employee is better. Maybe she can handle one more thing.
