The day my parents bought me a horse could have been the greatest day of my life.

Too bad it was a dream.

Living on the eleventh floor in the middle of the city with the nearest stable being 2 hours away is hard when it comes to owning a horse.

But the moment I saw the soft flutter of paper, pined to the notice board in my apartment building lobby, I knew I could already smell the hay. It was 2 months ago I ripped that flyer for a summer horse riding camp and pleaded with my parents to let me go.

****

For 9 years, Kiera Hugo has been obsessed with horses, but never gotten the proper chance to ride them, until today.

Silverstud Equestrian Camp is a summer camp for all levels of riding abilities. But although this is a dream come true, nothing can ever happen perfectly.

So this isn't a very good description, this is because I am writing this for a writing challenge run by NovemberRider, check it out! But I get a few writing challenges for the next 10 weeks, and I have no idea where this book is going!

~"When are you going to do what's best for you Sadie? All you ever do is what's best for Hallie and push your own wants and needs to the bottom of the pile and let it hurt everyone else in the process."~ Sadie Taylor has been back in her hometown for 6 short months. After leaving 11 years ago, it's fair to say that her life now is a 180 spin on the free innocent teenager she left as. With her 9 year old daughter, Hallie, in toe, Sadie needs to find a new kind of normality where se can release the reins of control and learn to let go a little. She's more than happy taking things at her own pace. Hoping that if she moves slow enough, she can keep her and her daughter in their own little bubble that has kept them safe all these years. But with the arrival of a familiar stranger arriving at Black Oak Ranch, things are set to be more complicated than she'd been counting on. Ryder Matthews fucked up and he knows it. 11 years ago, he left the love of his lie in some pre-college life freak out and when he returned 3 years later, she was gone. After spending the better part of 14 months travelling the world in hopes of finding some kind of meaning to life outside of the little town where every turn is a burning memory of Sadie, he returns with no hope. He's stuck to deal with his consequences. A week after his return home, Ryder heads to Jack Taylor's ranch to get his old farm hand job back. When he steps out of the car, a 9 year old girl greets him and when her mom comes to see what the fuss is all about, he's met with the last person he thought he'd ever see back in Alcombey. Let alone with a child. Ryder and Sadie have a lot of baggage to unpack if they have any hope of being able to tolerate working together. But when his heart is still beating for her and her heart is locked behind solid concrete walls, is that even possible?

Sure, Ryder's life wasn't perfect, with his deceased mother and his drunk father, but he didn't care as long as he had his girls with him. Sure, his best friend wasn't his, but he loved her and didn't even try dating. However, everything changed when Ryder turned 18. What had happened? Well, his sister was killed and he joined the Army, after beating his father. He left his other girl, that had a baby, which wasn't his own. After 12 years, he's going back to Montana. However, things have changed. He lost one of his arms, and he got shot in the leg. He hadn't went back to Montana, because of fear of rejection. But, when the horse he has been working with is set on trial, Ryder has to be there for the month. What will happen in a month? Who knows what will happen to him. Will he get the girl of his dreams? The Summer Of My Life

19 parts Complete

A lot had changed in Nor's life over the last two years. Her twin brother grew way too much into a man, making her unsuited to be his test driver any longer because of her slender, female figure. She was on her way to her last year of school, and for the first time, she went to school with the knowledge of staying there without having to leave again for Yanic's races until she would graduate. And then, there was her Granny, who, to Nor's amusement, suddenly felt the need to get her grandchild into horses again, and what Granny wanted, Granny usually got. So Nor found herself boarding a bus at the beginning of August to live on a stud for the last six weeks of her summer holidays with lots of other girls. And what looked like a total waste of time turned out to be the best summer of her life.
