When someone says California, you immediately think of the beach, the sun, and movie stars, right? Not me. When I think of California, I think of the way it ruined my life. You see, Cali isn't just known for Hollywood. It's also famous, or shall I say, infamous, for it's lethal Acid Rain Storms.
There's only two people who have ever survived an acid rain storm. Rumors say that when they came out, they were covered in blood and gore and guts, but somehow still survived.
These rumors, as it would turn out, are just rumors. And even though the two teenagers did survive and they were kept in a top secret research facility called the compound, they were left damaged beyond compare. How would I know this? You may ask. Well, I know this because I know the two teens who survived. Heck, even one of them was me.
My name is Scarlet, and this is the story of how I went from being a typical book-nerd geek to a person that everyone looked up to. A person that everyone feared.

The government decided to round us all up and place us together. It almost seems like they wanted a bright red target on our heads. Now it is easier to be found. I know he's coming for me, but the question remains. Who will he bring with him? What happens when the town where everyone's hiding is found by their worst nightmares? ***** This book is selected as mature because of the violence depicted and the language used. Although it does depict much blood, it isn't overly described. If at any point, the graphics are too much, stop reading and message me about it. This novel does have spelling and grammar mistakes. I never planned on telling my story. Returning since my departure in the book I wrote called Dev-Devine Intervention. Driving Across country from Oxnard, California to Middletown, Pennsylvania in my 1995 ford explorer. Coming full circle since leaving in the traumatic fashion. I would return to battle the demons I left a year prior. In fact a lot would change in a course of a year. My return would send shock waves through the community as my ex would transition into a female half assed since my departure. Leaching on his new host of convenience. I would start to rebuild my life by living in my car before getting a supervisor position with Sheetz. Along the way fate and rekindling friendship would bring me back to Lisa Lake. Juggling the heavy demand of my job that would work me 9pm-7:30am most days; the yelling that would affect my sleep. A visit at the Hershey Medical Center would result in a trust fall onto the concrete surface below. Partially unconscious I would get tossed around like a pizza from machine to machine. Head injury that would result in my inability to return to work and subsequently let go of my position. A turn of my luck I decided to refocus my purpose in earning my keep in where I am living. Accommodating the elderly couple and making their lives better in order to restore peace in the household. However, the dark truth is unraveling the scam behind the abuse of a 70 year old woman. How she was trapped in a marriage of convenience for her husband; The abuse that she was suffering from and how people with a hidden agenda took advantage of her with the help of her foolish husband. Understanding how it took my hard work to save her from the hell of her husband's creation. Eliminating the leaches one by one. Not Sick But Not Well.
This day wasn't an exception. I cried over and over until I could no longer, I wiped my tears and took the packages in my arms after opening the door. In the house, nothing new. They were still talking, so I had time to drop off the packages, and without even opening one, I headed to the showers, cleaned my face with water, and went to my room. This is roughly how my days as a child went. I know that it cannot be described as an ideal childhood, but it would certainly be the most beautiful period of my life. Despite family conflicts, school conflicts, loneliness, and fear, I was happy. I was happy because they were all there, happy because they always remained, despite my faults, and happy. After all, I knew that I had not yet experienced the worst. Happy because I knew, that sooner or later everything would end. So yes, I was as cowardly and useless as they all claimed and even more naive than they would have believed, but this vision that I had at that age kept me going.
