Runner is a small juvenile and one of the younger ones from his pack. While he was on a hunting group with the other juveniles, his pack gets attacked. While running away from the attackers, he trips and hits his head, forgetting almost everything, except for a few things: That these wolves aren't his friends and something was horribly wrong.

Field is the beta of a generally hostile pack. He's close friends with the alpha and healer. He's a good beta and packmate, but everybody has their secrets. Secrets including why he's part of the pack and his family. And he has secret plans. And Runner is a big part of a lot of them.
-----
This story is a rewrite of Runner of Fire, however, the plot will most likely be different as well as names and wording. I didn't have a full plan for Runner of Fire, but I'll surely have it written down before I start updating chapters. Cover made by myself.
To those coming from TARDIGRADE, don't worry, the chapters get better as it goes on! I'm almost finished, I'll soon rewrite the first few chapters!

All werewolves have mates. So what happens when you fall for someone before you're 18... "Hopefully hes my mate" is all Markie can think as she waits for her 18th. This is a short story that takes place in the middle of "Orphan Wolf". It can be read independently but will have spoilers if you intend to read "Orphan Wolf"... I of course would suggest you read it and pause at the point I marked to read "Markie" but the choice is yours. Story excerpt "Come on Ryan leave me alone!" A boy yells. "You started it Francis... come on pup don't start that with me... I don't have time for this! GO HOME!" I felt the command. I see the little 8 year old boy from last night run away crying, one of Ruby's cousins. When I turn the corner I see a boy about 20 and am hit with an overpowering smell something like fresh cut wood and autumn leaves. It is amazing. I see the guy turn towards me and duck behind the house I am standing by before he sees me. Nope! Not him! Not happening! I hear footsteps coming towards me and run. Into the woods I find a pine tree. Perfect! Pine trees are great hiding places. The branches hide you visually and the smell masks your scent. I climb up as quickly as I can and watch the guy approaching. He circles my tree looking around but eventually gives up and goes back towards the houses. "Mate!" My wolf happily purs. "Not him!" I respond. "Denial." She says. "Refusal." I counter and she growls at me. "You will NOT reject him!" She orders. "He is a bully!" "He is mate!" "He commanded that kid when he could have just talked to him! He is a bully with no patience!" "He is an Alpha!" She purrs with pride at his rank. I don't care! "I don't want him!" "The one you want isn't mate. He isn't yours. He isn't interested... I want mate!" "No." I block her out and climb down the tree.

"I dreamed about you." she leaned closer, and I knew she was preparing herself to catch my reaction. "You were a wolf." I tried my best to hide my anxiety, and tried innocence. "A wolf?" I hope she didn't catch the tremor. "Mm-hm. A wolf. A were-wolf." She kept studying me. Was she actually considering it? C'mon, I just wanted a normal life! Don't tell me she had worked it out. "Remember when we talked about you running away from home? You called yourself a wolf." Ohhhh sh*t. Damn her and her memory. I closed my gaping mouth with a snap, and looked away. "Hey," she whispered. I closed my eyes. "I know this is crazy but... are you?" I glanced back, worried to high hell. "Am I what?" She sighed. "A were-wolf, are you a were-wolf." She looked tired, and I wondered what she was thinking. My voice was hoarse. "Maybe." She looked as if she had been just shocked with electricity. "What?" Oh sh*t. What was I doing? "Maybe." I repeated. She still looked shocked. "Maybe I'm a werewolf. Maybe I was that wolf you saw in the bush yesterday. What would you do if I was?" "I don't know. Are you pulling my leg?" She watched me warily, and I leaned in close. "No." I pressed my lips to hers, and felt her tremble. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Diana Wednesday thinks that she's just going to have a normal, care-free gap year, where she'll find a boyfriend, get a job and live a life, maybe with her BFF Pippa. The Dark Clay pack has a tradition. Once a year all the 18 year olds trek to the boarder of the Black Water pack. A very powerful pack and their closest neighbor. A simple task cross the border and make it back touching a tree the goal. Its silly. Pointless to an onlooker but to the young adults who partake it is a thrill, a right of passage. This is where we meet Mini. A little wolf with a lot to prove. Her run however does not go as planned when a member of the Black Water pack catches her. What will happen to our little Mini? Read to find out. (This short story runs parallel to Alpha Lilly so if you like this give it a try.) Story excerpt As I run I never look back but I don't have to. Soon I see four wolves scream past me. "They saw us!" Riley links as he runs past. "Run!" I pick up the pace moving as fast as two legs can. Soon I am tackled to the ground. A large man pins me down with my hands above my head and my legs trapped beneath him. "Hay little one your friends just left you... how rude!" He smirks. The three men around him laugh. "Get off of me you baboon!" I yell. "Baboon?! Really... I don't look like a baboon... no little girl... I'm a wolf!"
