Year 2018
Although human society is filled with life and economies are blossoming, a great change is near. A young girl in the middle of her middle school year is met with strangers in suits and odd gazes. They come to introduce themselves as QUANTUM, and give an invitation towards her.
And she's not the only one, three of her best friends from her school are apparently given the same offer. But the girl can't shake the feeling that something is off. Thrown off balance, the girl is twisted into a world which she can barely keep up with. She can't help but feel as though she's needed for a bigger purpose in this twisted game she's apart of now.
And it's not just the weird vibe she's getting from the men in suits, rather the weird dreams she keeps receiving...could it be they connect to something in her past?

Along with the alien, a beacon was left on Earth which when activated, opens a portal through which the aliens will return. The extraterrestrials visit Earth to usurp Qi, Earth's vital energy. If the extraterrestrials go too long without Qi, people on the alien planet will die. However, when Qi is extracted from Earth, the weak and elderly of Earth will die. The beacon can only be activated by the alien who was left here and only when the planets are in a particular alignment. The next time is only two months away during the Autumnal Equinox. When Zoe discovers who the alien is, it's a complete game changer because the alien is closer to her than she ever could have imagined. The story takes place in a small town surrounded by forest near the Oregon-California border. Of course it does, after all, the highest concentration of Qi is found in forests where ancient redwoods grow. You might be wondering, what is Qi? In Japan it is called "ki," and in India, "prana"." The ancient Egyptians referred to it as "ka," and the ancient Greeks as "pneuma." In Africa, it's known as "ashe" and in Hawaii as "mana." They learnt from a young age no one that means NO ONE can know about their powers even their parents and other siblings. It brings out the true friends and those who just want to use you. In the end, what do you do when your closest friend betrays you? This is the story as they try to keep their biggest darkest secret of what they are capable of and as they discover they're not the only ones like them... I am not very good at trigger warnings before individual chapters but there is mention of blood, cold abuse and parents divorcing. (But read at your own risk in case I mention something else.
