This is a story and one few people know about, and even less believe in. A story full of secrets set in realm, not unlike the one you belong to, except this is a place that is almost stuck in time, well not completely, but to you it may seem that way; to you it would seem somewhat similar to that of description of a time long passed, except that magic exists in many different forms, and the people are humanoids of all different types; some will be mentioned in this tale, others exist but that is information you must seek yourself...
P.s This is my first time posting one of my stories and I would really appreciate any helpful feedback.

If anything, Compass is a testament to the ability for all races to come together. Reaching for the North Star, Polaris itself, with each other. A child born from the union between human and elf, in the comforts of high society, finds herself dissatisfied with this vision of Compass. To her, the city speaks in a different tongue, one that does not follow the illusion surrounding it. People do not live together; they merely exist parallel to the other person. She has lived her life hiding from the eyes of society, alone in a house of nobility. Years passed in her life, years full of shame, grief, and loneliness. Losing her home, her status as a noble, and the family name, she ventures out and discovers more than she ever knew about the city. Here is where the story begins. The Darkness in the Light
For over a hundred years, humanity has lived in fear of the monsters that roam the streets, lurking in the drains below. Women and their daughters hide, protected in their homes, while men take their sons through the world, teaching them the responsibilities of having a family to feed and dangers to avoid. No one leaves the home unless it's essential, and most of the world prefers it that way. Until one girl spends her days perched on her window seat, looking down at the world below and dreaming of a different life. Her eyes are always drawn to the dark, ominous drains in the street, the ones that often blink open to swallow and person whole. One day, that person is her little brother, snatched right in front of her from their arms of their father and gone forever. When a person is snatched, they never return, and life goes on without them. But she can't accept that. Breaking all the rules, all the things she's ever known, she braves the world outside her little townhouse and goes on a mission into the darkness to find her brother. Only, it's soon her that becomes the one lost to the drains. To survive she must rediscover her world, and in the process, rediscover herself. She will be reunited with old friends, gain new ones, find out deeper secrets about her past than she ever could have imagined, and learn that the world is even more corrupt than she always thought. *** This story contains sexist ideology, mention of cheating, some gruesome scenes, and a whole lot of monsters and darkness. It isn't overly mature... there isn't much explicit language or sexual scenes, but there is a bit of violence, so just keep that in mind... and despite all that negativity, ENJOY!Complete
