Evie's search for her parents takes her on a journey through the unknown of magic and tricks, being guided through the world she's just fallen into with a group of Mages she's only just met and a book full of blank pages. My hand swings, the sound of flesh hitting flesh filling my ears. The crack of a spark sends a jolt through my body, energy running through my veins and my hands heating. The heat travels through me, setting my blood on fire.
The black mark on his cheek in the shape of my hand has my jaw dropping. I look at my palm - it's covered in ash with a spark traveling along my veins to the crease of my elbow.
Kade watches my arm, his eyes squinting and his mouth hanging open. I search his face, the ashy mark fading away.
