Shane and Valerie are one of there own kind. With Shane being demon-hell hound hybrid and Valerie being a angel-werewolf hybrid. Since they where little they grew up around each other they never really talked in till going to the open-gates high school. This is when Shane and Valerie world was flipped around, they found out they are mates. Its not uncommon for demons and angels to be mated.
