Ever since her mother died her life has been a chaotic mess and her dad has never been the same.

Mr.Lucas turned to drinking for comfort and in that it led to verbal abusive and then verbal abuse turned to physical abusive. Aria's dad blamed her for her mothers death.

In school Aria liked to keep her head down. She felt that it would be better if she didn't make any friends. No friends meant no questions about her life at home and no questions meant not having to lie all the time. For the first three years in high school she hadn't made any friends. Always ate food in her comfort spot, the library. The school's library was her home, it was where she felt safe.

Finally, it's her senior year. She has one more year before she can escape home and more importantly her so called father. But what happens when the "Hottest Boy" in school brings Aria out of the shadows and into the light? And what happens when the new girl in school chooses Aria as her kindred spirit. Will Aria run and hide? Will she face her fears? Or will she be the girl in the shadows?
