Listen and silent are spelt with the same letters. Think about that. When one is silent they are always listening. Most people stay silent to hide their hurt and anger from the ones they love to keep them happy.
For me, however, I'm not staying silent to keep the ones I love happy, I'm silent to keep them safe.
Silence has absorbed my whole life. I stopped speaking when I was fourteen. No one, not even my family, know why. I guess they're used to it now.

Mama told me that I was a beautiful girl when I was little. Mama said that I had the prettiest tan skin, soft wavy black hair, and the most enchanting emerald eyes.
