In the land of Tellenius, dark forces stir from their ancient slumber. Corruption and betrayal flourish as forces from both another land and another world set their sights upon the summer country.

Acting upon centuries of dispute and enmity, the humans tore apart their rivals, the half-breed beasts, and left their desert kingdoms buried upon the sands from which it once arose. They scatter like prey upon the predator, and few survived the onslaught, one of them Asta of Nycar Grelto, the family of noble blood in their kingdom. Bitter and alone, the young princess finds herself seeking vengeance for both her family and her home. A scholar first and foremost, content to lie between the pages of a book, with little battle experience beyond that of basic training, she soon finds that vengeance demands a costly price.

War is on the horizon--a war on two magical fronts, it is possible--and the princess scholar will discover the dark secrets untold within the depths of both her home country and the world at large, as the Trickster awakens from his restless sleep.
