James Wilson lives in the little town of James with her brother, sisters, and mother. Her father is a semi-truck driver and isn't home very often. The little town's population is only 150 and is a farming community. Jamie isn't like most teenagers her age. At the break of dawn she and her older brother are outside working on the farm. She writes poems to get her feelings out.

     Jason Daniels moves to the town of James from the big city, Clinton. His parents got divorced and he moved with is twin sister and older sister to live with their mother in James. Jason meets Jamie and they become friends immediately.
