______________________________

A story set 18 years after the last book in the Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins. Suppose the Rebellion hadn't quite gone to plan?

Katniss Everdeen has been all but erased from history. The names Mellark and Hawthorne are going unnoticed by the children of Panem. The Capitol, now in the hands of a new President, is more powerful than ever and the Hunger Games continue.

Lilia Brooks does not deny the Capitol. She's watched her best friend die and looked on as no one cared, so what point is there in trying to rebel? So when she's Reaped for the 93rd Hunger Games, she doesn't realise that her growing strength might just be the thing that will cost her dearly.

Life is a game. It's just a question of who knows the rules.

When Kira Blackwood's name is reaped, she knows she's screwed. How is she supposed to survive in a fight to death with twenty-three other tributes, all of whom want to get out alive as much as she does? Not to mention, the thought of killing somebody twists her stomach into all sorts of unnatural shapes. Despite secretly training for the Games in the cow pastures surrounding her home, and being pretty handy with a knife, Kira's kind heart may be the thing that holds her back the most. However, as she navigates through the opulent world of the Capitol, and then the arena itself, Kira starts to realize that maybe, just maybe, it's not the dead she should pity, but the Victor. After all, no one ever really wins the Hunger Games. Survives, sure. But wins? Never. ~~+~~ Please Note: This is set in a world where the 2nd Rebellion failed. All usurpers were executed (except those pesky star-crossed lovers, who knows where they ran off to), District 13 was destroyed for good (but District 12 was rebuilt, on the basis that the Capitol realized that it actually really needed coal), and the Hunger Games were reinstated. Disclaimer: I don't own any of the rights to the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, or to the Lionsgate adaptation of her books. (Obviously.) All characters of my creation are copyrighted. ~~+~~ Thank you so much for reading this, it really means so much to me!!! :) I hope you enjoy, and love it as much as I do! (Also sorry for the length, I sort have this thing for details... and long, run-on sentences... and long, run-on sentences stuffed with details...) Please note: I don't have a ton of free time, so as much as I love writing this, updating it will probably be super irregular. I'll try not to let too much time pass in between updates, but that really depends on my homework schedule. Actually, who am I kidding, I'm a huge procrastinator. I'll probably be doing this instead of my homework.

Flickering Candle | The Hunger Games

8 parts Ongoing

Living a life fearing and hating the Capitol, Dahlia Everdeen did whatever it took to keep her mother and younger sisters, Katniss and Prim safe. The entire district knew that she would do and say anything to keep her loved ones safe. And that she did, when Dahlia volunteered to take her sister's place in the 74th Hunger Games. A game where she must fight to the death. Most citizens in the Capitol thought her a meek girl sent to die. Unlike other tributes, Dahlia was a candle flickering just barely in the darkness. Yet, what they didn't know was that within her the candle would grow brighter. A fire was sparked. And soon enough, Panem would be faced with a blazing inferno.
