To sum it up, Alek has no social life. Between tuba lessons and doing other people's homework for a little extra cash, he has no time to... live.

After an embarrassing fall and a lovely trip to the ER, Alek is forced to become a metal mouth, making him unable to fulfill his duties as star tuba player of Lincoln High School. So what about his already-paid-for spot in the school marching band?

Bree is that awkward wallflower. She's known as Chris Thompson's little sister, who's the cool jock at school. She plays the contrabassoon, but in a desperate attempt to get into marching band, she decides to sign up for color guard.

When the season starts, both teens are thrown into a summer full of hardcore band camp practices, late night drive-in movies, all-nighters, and a really crazy end-of-summer pool party. But by the time school starts again, they realize they both might want to be a little more than friends.
