Lorelai has been known for her bad limp ever since the incident during her childhood, caused by what she viewed as an imaginary friend of sorts. She was bullied constantly for it as a child and even more so after her father died. She and her mother had moved to England from America, her father having died a few months prior. Her mother hadn't told her she was a witch until just after they moved into their new home, keeping her letter for five years. Her mother wanted to move to England because she wanted the best for her daughter which, in her mind, was Hogwarts. She ends up accepting the invitation and attends the school, but she was in need of tutoring having missed three years of schooling. Lorelai struggles, but her tutor helps her get through it and, eventually, she warms up to her favorite professor. Snape.
