When the paths of Kelly Severide and 14 year old orphan Addison Hunter cross, both lives are altered forever. Kelly pulls Addison from the flames of a deadly house fire, but even that isn't enough to keep her out of harm's way. As Kelly continues to find Addison in increasingly dangerous circumstances, he can't help but insert himself into her life, trying to find answers to his many questions. However, the more Kelly comes to  learn, he finds himself developing an unlikely soft spot for the witty teen, and the more turbulent both their lives become.
