The Blood Moon

I was painting my nails and humming to Bulletproof Love by Pierce the Veil when my cellphone started ringing. I answered it and automatically heard a fit of squeals and giggles, my two best friends Shantelle and Clary had called me like we do almost every night. “What is it this time girls?” I asked engrossed in my nails and trying, but failing, to not get any on my skin. “Well Clary has something to say to you!” Shantelle said rapidly. “Oh my god Anita go check outside of your window right now it’s important!” Clary said just as quickly as Shantelle had. Instead of answering I got up and walked over to my window and peered out of the thick glass covered in a coating of fresh frost. There was a moving van pulling up to the empty decrepit house across the street from me, biting my lip I opened my window. Why would someone move into a house into the middle of the night? “Girls are you busy because I would like it if you guys could come over, my parents aren’t here and Brad’s out at Nicole’s, and something about this family moving in is giving me the creeps.” As they both agreed I went down stairs staring out the window waiting to see the two familiar faces I’ve seen since the 3rd grade.
