Hot shot is five years old. He lives with his father Heatwave and his mother Quickshadow. They all live in Fort Worth Texas. Heatwave is a firefighter and Quickshadow is a Pediatric nurse who works at Cook Children's Hospital. Hot shot lives a very normal life with his parents. Hot shot loves to run jump climb and play. Hot shot is a very happy and healthy child. Hot shot is kind, honest, loving, and generous he has a big heart. He soon starts to feel unwell. Hot shot has a really bad headache that won't go away, he is vomiting, he is tired all the time, and he is cranky. Hot shot is feeling so bad one day his parents take him to Cook Children's hospital ER that afternoon. Hot shot gets an immediate MRI. The MRI reveals a brain tumor. The doctors get a good size piece of the tumor with a biopsy. Then Hot shot is diagnosed with choroid plexus carcinoma a type of brain cancer. Hot shot is brave and ready to face his cancer head on. At the hospital Hot shot make friends with four other kids with the same type of cancer. They decide to fight their cancer together and become the best of friends.
