Gabriel's mother always reminded him growing up that not everyone are who they seem. As someone destined to become a millionaire at his father's passing, everyone would expect Gabriel to heed this statement as a warning. However, though Gabriel knows to look out for con men, he likes to believe that everyone has a good side to them that nobody sees. This characteristic of his is what lead him to meeting Naomi one night, a sex worker that spends her daylight hours sitting on the curb in shorts and a crop top, both black, down the street from his father's hotel, with a bottle wrapped in a brown paper bag held tightly between her hands , which she occasionally sips while chatting with her similarly dressed associates. Little did he know that after their encounter on that one faithful night, both their lives would drastically change forever.

Despite Sophia defying the odds and securing a job at the most prestigious company in New York City, she struggles to see the threat from her past creeping it's way back into her mundane life. Will it ruin the possibility of a happy future or was she always destined for a lifetime of loneliness? ***** Sophia was set up to fail- her teenage life was filled with cancer, suicide and gambling but with motivation and hard work she was able to create a comfortable life for herself. Being in the right place at the right time offered her an opportunity like no other. The only problem? The past she believed she had left so far behind her was in fact lurking just around the corner waiting for the right time to pounce. When the only man she felt she could truly trust began keeping secrets Sophia wondered if there had been any truth in their relationship at all. ***** "Why do you always hide from me?" His fingers were still gently holding her chin. He wanted that night to be different, he wanted to allow himself to feel things, for just one evening. She cast her eyes down. "I'm not hiding." "Then look at me, Sophia..." She took in a deep breath and drew her eyes upwards, looking at him through her mascara laced lashes. His fingers fluttered across her skin and he placed his palm gently on her cheek. He brought his face closer and rested his forehead on hers as if he were trying to fight the pull between them. "What are you doing to me?" His voice was barely a whisper.
