The room filled with silence, so quiet that Lila was certain that her pounding of her heart could be heard.

Before Lila could turn and leave, Delirious got up from his bed and causally walked towards her. 

"Oh how I found it so adorable that people like you still think the world is so good and worth living for, thinking that nothing could go wrong." 

Lila watched carefully as he made his way around the table, not noticing that something was off. Once he made his way right next to her side of the table, he stood in front of her and slowly crouched down to be eye level with her.

"I'm sorry to tell you this little bird, the world is a messed up place filled with people who are much worse than I. But remember this." 

He leaned his head close to Lila that their faces were only centimeters away.

"No matter how hard you try to help me, you can't help a man who has no soul and enjoys nothing but killing and sex, and right now there's nothing stopping me from having both." 

It was then that it clicked into Lila head that she knew what was wrong.
