The birth of the duchesses second daughter did not go like the first. Most thought that both mother and baby wouldn't live. But when the child was born she was granted one fairy godmother and the gift bestowed upon her and her mother was life.
Now she is seventeen and has known since she was little what that gift cost her. The fairy used part of a dragon's heart to save her life and now she is cursed to forever be trapped between human and dragon. The duchess is constantly ill, the servants and nobles avoid her, and her father keeps her confined to the castle and it's grounds. And to make things worse, as the year turns towards summer, Prince Calev is announced to be coming on his way to the southern borders. The dragonslayer Prince.
