The Moon colonists watch in fear as an asteroid, far larger than the one that wiped out the dinosaurs 66 million years ago, plummets towards the Earth.

The collision leaves the planet blackened and lifeless.

Can the colonists survive their sudden enforced independence? And is the Earth as dead as it appears?

Written in a hybrid-diary format, these journal entries chronicle the fears and emotions of Neal as he and his family struggle to survive in this changed world. ❖ Interstellar pilot and ex-adventurer Alex Gallegos must keep their team safe on an icy moon as sentient storms threaten to repeat the tragedy that ended their last career. ❖ Everyone in the United Inhabited Solar Systems (for some reason, UIS for short) knows to stay away from Mahaha. The icy moon is notorious for failed probe landings and research missions that end in tragedy: the only people to ever venture to its surface needed rescuing after just two weeks. When a prestigious research group decides they want a turn, they ask Alex Gallegos to lead the team. Perfectly qualified and haunted by their past, Alex accepts, hoping to make up for old mistakes and get just a little further from the earth they've left behind. Two months into the seven-month mission, the team is struggling with discontent, damaged equipment, and blizzards acting less and less like normal weather. As Mahaha moves out of range of help and the storms take on a more malicious character, Alex must face the one foe they could never have prepared for. Mahaha may or may not be alive. ❖❖❖ Complete. Wattys 2021 Shortlister. Standalone sequel (Rocks Can Dance) coming in 2023. Comments and critiques are both welcome and appreciated. I write characters from many different backgrounds, with many different experiences. If you share those traits and find that I have misrepresented anything, please let me know! Humanity Endures by Evan_Armstrong

Desperation, ideals, greed, and hope - they all have a role to play in tearing the galaxy apart. The human race finds itself at the precipice; a mysterious, monstrous force threatens everything in the cosmos, and all the while, the unity of humanity's Empire threatens to shatter just when it is needed most. Never before has extinction been so tangible a possibility, and never before has exceptional courage, intellect, and luck been more needed. This is a story about more than just people, their ambitions, and their conflicts: it is a story about crisis, set in a universe where survival, for any side, and for anyone, may be impossible. It remains to be seen if the popular patriotic saying, "Humanity endures," will remain true - even for a week. -- If you wish you purchase a paperback version of this novel, you can do so on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Humanity-Endures-Evan-Peter-Armstrong/dp/B08P8QK86H.
