A continent off of the coast of Fiore, Tartas, known as the "House of Death", is in fact the largest and most dangerous prison for wizards. Deep within the walls of the prison lies the birth of several new wizards, who house lethal, ancient and banned magic. The Magic Council has arranged for them to be executed, but someone has persuaded them otherwise. Because of this, the rise of a new guild is at hand, a guild for second chances, which have their eyes on becoming the strongest guild. When the wizards from Tartas are accused of using their magic to kill, the Grand Magic Games are used as a testing ground for this new guild to see whether or not they are guilty.
