A Pair of Scales

Wrote this...what, six years ago?! The first in a brief series; at times, it doesn't know what it wants to be. (This will be referred to as the "Arlette" series, though I'm sure it's more complicated than that.)

Update: Though you probably don't care, Arlette is based on Eileen Ryan, the mother of actors Sean and Chris Penn.
