This story takes place 11 years after the events of Sonic06.  Mephiles was created by GUN to be a better Ultimate weapon but it seemed to of worked all too well that he almost killed the ultimate life form in a fight due to remembering things that happened in another timeline.  GUN had to cover it up and seal Mephiles in isolation for five years until  being released by Egg man. 
It's a race against fate at the moment for Sonic, Mephiles is after him and only him.  Vowing for revenge on Shadow, he decided to take his anger out on his rival knowing that GUN would send Shadow into isolation, they'd blame him due to him having a rivalry with the blue blur.

Eggman planed to use the Phantom Ruby to banish Sonic and his friends to another dimension, making sure they stay there and never return. After a long fight with Metal Sonic, as both he and Metal became super, Sonic was defeated but Eggman pulled the Chaos Emeralds from Sonic and Metal Sonic before the robot hedgehog could deliver the final blow. Eggman disowned Metal and called him useless before firing the cannon. But Metal chose to take the Chaos Emeralds when the portal became unstable and turned into a black hole. While grabbing the Ruby, Metal Sonic sacrificed himself to save the world, making everyone believe him to be gone... However, they did not know that he was sent to an alternate dimension, where he would begin his new life becoming a hero in the SMG4 universe, proving he will be a better hero than Sonic.

Will tails, sonic and shadow get back to Normal or will they have to grow up all over again find out what happens next.
