As the mane 6 explore the everfree forest, they suddenly come across a portal that sucks them all into another universe. That universe is none other than the Sonic Boom universe. 
They meet when Sonic was having a side kick audition where they first meet Twilight and Rainbow Dash and they compete in it.
But later on they decided to recruit them all and started to hang out with one another.
