After being mesmerized and equally baffled by the climax of Baahubali: The Beginning, I eagerly looked forward to  Baahubali:The Conclusion to tie up the loose ends of the story shown in the first part. While 'Why Kattappa killed Baahubali' was answered pretty well, I didn't get to see sufficient screen time for 'How Mahendra Baahubali takes over Mahishmathi.'

Apart from just killing the villain, I wanted the story to address a deeper issue. I wanted the story to deliver Mahabharata's message that standing up for one's own sense of righteousness should be beyond the mental shackles of morals (as in the case of Kattappa who is similar to Bheeshma in Mahabharat), fears (as in the case of Mahishmathi's civilians), etc. Besides this I wanted the story to justify the fact the Bhallaladeva is a trained and highly skilled warrior and Mahendra/Shivudu was no match for him in going for a direct face off. I wanted to see a justifying establishment of each of the main characters, particularly Devasena, whom I wanted to see to rise to the status of a warrior queen.

This is my attempt at addressing  'How Mahendra Baahubali takes over Mahishmathi' with the above-mentioned interests of mine. Hope you enjoy it and do let me know your feedback.All Rights Reserved

A short grace period of peace and prosperity ensue. Mahendra has become the proud father of a bright and vivacious daughter, Bhagiradhi and is eagerly awaiting the birth of his next progeny. At this point, things start going terribly wrong for this royal family and kingdom. In a world continually in flux, a world where what appears in not what is true, where the strongest of relationships are forged out of grand lies, can the siblings stay true to themselves and their inner spirit? Can the younger generation step into the shoes of their illustrious forefathers and reinstate the former glory of this once proud kingdom? Follow their journey in life as they leave their imprints on the sands of time and annals of Mahishmati's history. Note: This is the first draft of this fanfiction. A lot of things can be fine-tuned, polished and improved during the editing process. But since this is a fanfiction, I am going to leave the story in its first draft. This is the first story of my Mahabharata series that I tried to pen down at my own childhood. I am truly fascinated by her life long struggle for independence and avenging her insult by her own husband. This is my own original story that I never published anywhere else. The motivation for this story were Mahabharat and other manuscripts on Chitrangada. I take most scenes from the popular television serial "Mahabharata Katha"of Mr. B. R. Chopra.
