After being mesmerized and equally baffled by the climax of Baahubali: The Beginning, I eagerly looked forward to Baahubali:The Conclusion to tie up the loose ends of the story shown in the first part. While 'Why Kattappa killed Baahubali' was answered pretty well, I didn't get to see sufficient screen time for 'How Mahendra Baahubali takes over Mahishmathi.'

Apart from just killing the villain, I wanted the story to address a deeper issue. I wanted the story to deliver Mahabharata's message that standing up for one's own sense of righteousness should be beyond the mental shackles of morals (as in the case of Kattappa who is similar to Bheeshma in Mahabharat), fears (as in the case of Mahishmathi's civilians), etc. Besides this I wanted the story to justify the fact the Bhallaladeva is a trained and highly skilled warrior and Mahendra/Shivudu was no match for him in going for a direct face off. I wanted to see a justifying establishment of each of the main characters, particularly Devasena, whom I wanted to see to rise to the status of a warrior queen.

This is my attempt at addressing 'How Mahendra Baahubali takes over Mahishmathi' with the above-mentioned interests of mine. Hope you enjoy it and do let me know your feedback.

Author's Note Hi guys, I'm one of the die hard fans of the Sony TV "Prithviraj Chauhan" series, and honestly, I was so disappointed when they shut it down. So here I am - writing my own version of the story, the way I've always imagined it. I'm a hopeless romantic, so expect deep love, misunderstandings, politics, and destiny - all wrapped in the timeless tale of Prithviraj and Sayogita. The story will stay historical, but it will dive deeper into their hearts - their soul connection, their pain, and their passion. I hope you guys enjoy this journey as much as I love writing it. Do let me know in the comments if you want me to add anything special. - more romance, palace drama, or maybe a twist in destiny Let's see how we shape this into a beautiful love story that history could never forget. Just a quick heads-up - this story is based on the show, but I've made up a lot of things along the way. If you'd like to pick up from where the show ended (since they kind of rushed the ending!), start reading from Chapter 6 - that's when he brings his princess back to Ajmer after abducting her in the iconic swayamvar scene on the horse! I'm not following history in this story.... this is my fairy tale! It's going to be sweet, romantic, and full of fun. Here, they'll get the life they truly deserve - with love, laughter, kids, and adventures together. They'll fight wars side by side and always win. The only twist? My princess can fight too - she's Prithvi's Shakti. - With love, Sash A Hopeless Romantic Fan

[#1 in Baahubali on 11 April 2021 | #1 in Devasena on 21 April 2021] "You are naive!" Princess Devasena spat at her fiance. "Naive and unsuspecting! Forgive me for saying this, but it is not right for a Emperor to remain so!" "And you distress yourself too much!" the Prince retorted. "I would like to make it clear, clear to a very great degree, that I trust the members of my family with my life. And nothing will change that." ♛ ♛ ♛ What if there was an alternate universe wherein Crown Prince Amarendra Baahubali's marriage with Princess Devasena was arranged beforehand? Would things have gone differently for the Maharaja and his bride? Or will the monstrous Bhallaladeva and his wicked father succeed in dethroning him and signing his death warrant?
