After his parents are murdered, Baird was put in the foster system when he was just four years old. He ran away when he was twelve and has been homeless ever since. His best friend, an eighteen year old boy named Jynx Palin, takes Baird under his wing. But once Baird is exposed to magic for the first time, his entire world is flipped upside-down. He learns of this magical realm called Portalis. In this realm are six kingdoms. Each kingdom is ruled by its own monarchy, but there is one who rules over them all: Arbitrium. This is where Baird's mother is from. Once she died, Baird became the next heir to the high throne, as his mother was the princess. Baird meets new faces, tasks, and difficulties and he navigates through this new world. Dark, and dangerous secrets are taught to Baird as he faces the threat of him and his aunt, the Queen, being hunted. He also faces discrimination from some of the citizens as they believe he's not fit to rule. Can he save the kingdom and prove to its people that he is their only heir and their only hope?
