this is a short story I wrote for a competition, It didn't make it to the shortlist so I will just leave it here :)
The story follows the life of Penny, who suffers a disease which is slowly paralysing her as she grows older. Her mother brings an android to take care of Penny since she is busy and doesn't have much time. As the story goes on the relationship between Android and Penny grows.

An Unexpected Moment
... that changes everything Sarah was starting her junior year of high school. Looking at herself in the mirror, she saw a pretty average blonde haired, blue eyed, teenager. She was neither in the popular group, nor one of the many cliched outsiders. Sarah was a nobody. She liked to blend in and lay low. It was her way out of not only this town, but her house. No one knew it, but her father was a high functioning alcoholic that often took his anger out on his family. With her older sister now in college, it had turned to her more often. Laying low in general was a good strategy. Across town, Ryan was prepping for his final year in high school. While he wasn't the stereotypical quarterback of the football team, he did fit into the popular crowd. His sports of choice included basketball and soccer, either of which might line him up for a scholarship next year. Ryan had a group of close friends and a lot of adoring acquaintances. It wasn't easy juggling his athletics and keeping the grades up, but he was just that good. The supporting parents didn't hurt either. It might be a cliché romance, but it will be fun to see what the year and beyond holds. ------------------------------------------ This is a story I wrote years ago, or at least partially wrote. It also shows the power of the mind to manifest anything. It is about perseverance endurance kindness and finding yourself. It shows that through the darkest time as long as you keep hope you can accomplish your dreams. It also uses a metaphors to represent the injustice in the world and that we have to fight to abolish to be treated fairly. This is a heart wrenching novel filled with pain and sadness but at its heart this book is about the magic that lives inside everyone. I also wrote this book to make people more aware of the disorders and disabilities that a lot of people face. The disorders and disabilities that the girls in this book have I also suffer from myself and I feel that the public should be more aware of these conditions.Complete

Moon Gem
A girl named Gretchen lives with her mother, father and stepfather (who's name is James). What no one knows is that in her house is an infinite library and her and her grandfather have the meticulous job of sorting all the books. One day a new book arrives and it has the directions to the stairs to the moon. These will lead her to the moon gem where she can make one wish. She wants to wish for her best friend, Obby who is in a wheelchair, to be able to walk. But the journey of finding the moon gem and getting her wish, will take a lot more than Gretchen thought. This is a kids book and has no explicit language and is for all ages. It was written for a fourth grade class and was read to the class by the teacher and deemed completely appropriate. When a mysterious death occurs, revealing a well-concealed secret, things quickly go downhill as humanity's future is placed on the shoulders of a single gaggle of teenagers. *** I hear a sigh from the other side of the door, "Miss. Chaucer, you have a wonderful opportunity here, are you going to take it or not?" Now, I am seriously confused, "Opportunity?" She takes advantage of my befuddled state and shoves the door open. Shit. The corners of her mouth pull up, and it's so unnatural, it takes me a moment to realize she's smiling. Major plastic surgery? Probably. Click. Did she just lock the door? She locked the door! I spring towards the house phone, dusty from years of doing absolutely nothing, so I can call the police. I don't make it. Halfway there, I trip on my own pant-leg and face plant on the floor. The woman steps over me and retrieves the phone. She looks at it as if it's a foreign object, "This won't be necessary. All I want to do is talk to you." For some reason, instead of screaming, I stay silent. She smiles and pulls out a chair from the kitchen table for me to sit on. When I don't sit, she says, "If you want to know what's going on, then sit." I think about it for a moment. She hasn't hurt me yet, and I have to admit, I am quite curious as to what's going on.
