NOT MADE OF IRON
Everyone has to be extraordinary before he notices them.
Valerie "Val" Stark has spent her entire life surrounded by superheroes, genius inventors and people who are constantly saving the world. Yet somehow, she has always felt invisible to the one person she has spent her whole life trying to reach: her father.
Coming back home is supposed to be simple. Finish school, survive Tony's rules, stay out of trouble and try not to let another argument turn into a reminder that he sees her as something he has to protect instead of someone he actually knows.
But nothing about being back at the compound feels simple.
Between Tony's constant security, the places inside Stark Industries she is still somehow not allowed near, and a growing feeling that something is wrong behind the scenes, Val is determined not to disappear into the background of her own life again. She wants to be taken seriously - not treated like a liability, a responsibility, or another piece of Stark technology that needs to be monitored.
Then Peter Parker shows up.
Tony's new intern is awkward, suspiciously secretive, somehow allowed into rooms Val has spent years being kept out of, and absolutely terrible at pretending he does not know more than he is saying. Val does not know what is going on with him, but she knows that whenever Peter is around, things start feeling a little less simple.
As old relationships fall apart, secrets get harder to ignore and something inside Stark Industries begins to get much too close to home, Val has to figure out who she is when being a Stark is no longer enough to keep her safe.
