He could see her through the window, sweeping the floor of the almost totally deserted diner. Her black hair was falling out of her messy bun and into her face, and she had to keep stopping to push it back. He smiled just a little. He didn't even know her name, she was just 'diner girl', but every time he went to that Diner he would always look for her. She was sweet, and most of the time, she slipped him a little something extra, even when- especially when- he couldn't afford it. He always made sure to give her a little nod of thanks before he left, he didn't want to get her in trouble, but aside from taking his order, they had never spoken.
Until Now.....

"What reason do I have to lie?" He looked up at me with squinted eyes. "Hmm, Maybe because YOU KIDNAPPED ME?" I yelled at him, throwing whatever was closest to me, which happened to be the plate I had just eaten off of. The plate missed his head but hit the wall behind him with a thump, it shattered to pieces onto the couch, food splattering all over. His eyes glazed over with anger. "Did you just throw that at my head?" He asked in a scary calm tone. I gulped, "Maybe if you weren't such an asshole I wouldn't have." I spoke, my voice shaking as much as my body was. "I'm not an asshole!" He yelled at me as he stood to his feet, and in two long strides made his way over to me. He grabbed me by the arms and pushed his face inches away from mine. Wanting to push his buttons, I did the only thing I could think of. "Only an asshole would say that." I told him, my voice low. I was mad and I wanted to see what he would do. He held my arms down. I laughed in his face, "What are you gonna do? Hit me?" I pushed, I wanted to prove a point, I wanted to show him how much of a monster he truly is. He released his grip, "No. No I'm not." He stood up and walked towards the door, running his hands through his hair. I was surprised, but decided to push further, to see how far I could actually push him. "Why not? You've done it before." I pointed out, my confidence growing now that he didn't hit me for that. He leaned on the door frame, his back to me. "Because I can't do it!" He yelled, turning around to face me. He strode towards me, anger fuming off of him. I cowarded away from him, scared he was going to hit me again. But, I wanted him to, just to make a point, but he did something that surprised me a lot more. He kissed me. *** April Hastings, a seemingly normal girl is abducted by her handsome boss. Learning that the abduction was not ill intended, she starts to fall in love. *FIRST BOOK OF "IN THE SHADOWS" SERIES!*

My eyes meet the set of eyes that had me irritated all evening before she quickly looks down, biting her lip. She doesn't look up after she places the tray of drinks in front of me but just stands as if waiting for me to say something. "Would you like to sit?" I ask before picking up my glass. "What?.." she answers, not knowing what to say. I make a come hither gesture. "Would you like to sit, love?" I asked softly, my voice raspy and low from the joint I was smoking. She straightens up a bit, before shaking her head, refusing my offer. I sigh before leaning forward for her to bend again. "You know, love, I know you were working and I also know that you should have clocked out hours ago but you didn't. You were just helping them out." She gasps in surprise, lifting her gaze to me as I said this. "I saw you on your way out with your bag before you decided to stay back after staring at me the first time. So, again, sweetheart, would you like to sit?" I ask with smirk on my face. She blushes before she decides to take a seat between Yareli and myself. I barely register Yareli getting up with a smirk and walking past us as my eyes are on this dark curly hair. ---------- Understanding the meaning of "capricious", came to Sage at the young age. I shifted uncomfortably in my seat as he stared across the table at me. I could seriously drown in his eyes. He was intoxicatingly attractive and he had to know it. That's why he was acting strange around me. For some reason, he looked at me as if I was the only one there with him. As if nobody else were here. And his voice... it pained me. It actually pained me with how utterly seductive and husky it always sounded. And the way he smelled all the time. I don't know why he smelled so strong, but I didn't mind. He smelled like evergreens and a hint of mint. It sounds like a bad combo, but it dizzied me with how lost I got in it. The thought of not being able to control myself, my thoughts and feelings and body when I'm around him, infuriated me. I was so good at holding myself together now, and he just unraveled me so easily, leaving me a mess. I wasn't the slightest bit afraid of him, and I had no idea why either. Just being in the same room, I felt like I didn't have to look over my shoulder. I didn't have to worry. I didn't even know who he was, and he still drew me in. "So, you were in California before? Why did you move?" Grace Hatfield asked, looking at him. She is our school's college and career advisor. She took me in and adopted me a couple years ago. She even gave me her last name. A saving grace. Why had she invited him here? Why did he come? He turned to her with a smile and a shrug. "Guess I just hadn't found what I was looking for yet." Something about the way he said it, sent a shiver down my spine. Why did I feel like there was so much more meaning behind his words than he was letting on? "Well, I hope you find what you're looking for." Grace said, and he turned to me with a devilish smirk and a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Something tells me that I will."

Raymond hadn't taken five steps when the sack suddenly moved. He froze instantly and his skipping heart started running a hundred meter race. He tried to bring down his fear by blaming the wind for the occurrence but the sack moved again, very softly, and he knew that whatever is inside that sack is responsible for the movements. He discarded his fear and moved towards the sack. He looked around in utmost fear hoping that some of the scenes in Hollywood movies would not manifest; where police men would round up good Samaritans assuming them to be murderers. The environment was utterly dark and he could not see anything asides bushes. He reached down and pulled down the loose top of the sack and what manifested before him was the face of a human being. His heart almost stopped from fear as his prediction had become reality. Raymond's breathing was not coordinated at all and he had gone pale. The face was slightly covered with mud but the entire hair was immersed in it. From the hair, he knew it had to be a girl so he pulled the sack down to the waist line of the body with his shivering hands. He looked up and nearly died of fright when he met the eyes of the girl slightly open and in his direction. He started wondering if she was a spirit or a witch sent to kill him but then he saw how pale she looked and warded off his vague thought. He glimpsed a thick mass of blood on her stomach and winced internally. She started moving uncomfortably and seemed to be doing that unconsciously. He hurriedly pulled out the sack and threw it into the bush. Without even considering the risk of picking her up, he whisked her into his arms and made for his car. Raymond is already frustrated with his relationship with Tinuke his fiance but can't end it..... Not until he met Lucy in a sack. Read and follow the story of Lucy and Raymond as they find love and happiness. I love you guys.
