Genre: Teen Fiction | Drama | Friendship | Slow Burn Kevin Martinez was the kind of guy who saw the best in everyone-even the people who tried their hardest to push him away. But no one pushed harder than Christian Reyes. Cold, distant, and armed with the sharpest tongue in school, Christian made it his mission to tear Kevin down the moment they met. From sarcastic comments in class to brutal insults in the hallways, Christian's words hit harder than fists ever could. And for a while, Kevin let it hurt. He let it cut deep. But he never let it stop him. Because something in Christian's eyes didn't match the venom in his voice. Something broken. Something lost. And Kevin couldn't turn away from that. No matter how many times Christian tried to chase him off with bitterness and anger, Kevin stayed. He argued back. He fought. But he never gave up. Slowly-painfully-their battles turned into banter. Their silence turned into conversations. And little by little, a wall started to crack between them. Now in their final year of high school, Kevin and Christian are best friends. But it wasn't easy getting there. Kevin had to fight for every piece of Christian's trust. Every small moment of vulnerability. Every inch of friendship. And he never stopped chasing, even when Christian said things that still echoed in his mind at night. Hurtful things. Words from the past that Kevin pretends don't matter-but they do. Because no matter how close they are now, there are still scars between them. And sometimes, friendship isn't about the good times. Sometimes it's about choosing someone even when it's hard, even when they hurt you, even when the past feels too heavy to carry. It's about forgiveness, persistence, and the kind of friendship that's fought for, not found. And through it all, Kevin never stops chasing the boy who once tried so hard to hate him-because some people are worth the pain.

Her family all keep telling her that one day her powers would shine through, but now at the age of seventeen almost eighteen she no longer believes them. Her school life is hell with everyone looking down on her because of her lack of powers. With her Dad being Principal though it meant she couldn't even attend a different school. Both the ban of her existence and the only joy in her day is one Caspian Anderson, the most powerful student in the school. When at school he acts like the biggest, most arrogant jerk she had ever known. But Winter has a secret, she knows Caspian very well. He may not acknowledge her at school but every afternoon he was all hers. He was the best friend that any girl could wish for. He was sweet, kind and funny. He never let the fact she had no powers bother him then at all. With the arrival of Zeke Worthington her life became in disarray. He understood her; he knew what it felt like to be the outsider. He told her he had come from a place where he was misunderstood too. Zeke seemed immensely happy to meet Winter, even though he befriended Caspian too. Why Caspian had a problem with it, Winter doesn't understand. It wasn't like he went out of his way to be friends with her during school hours. Even as Winter and Zeke get closer, Caspian becomes increasingly unhappy and agitated with her. She can't change things though, after all in the long run all she can prove is that she has no powers, but maybe she will be surprised.

Growing up in a toxic environment, sixteen-year-old Jay Foster has always had psychological problems, coupled with a quick temper. But one night something happens which finally pushes him over the edge, and as a result, he leaves his house the next morning with two things: his mother's gun and a plan. Living with a neglectful and drug addicted mother wasn't easy for Jay, and it definitely didn't help that his father abandoned the family while he was still a child. He harbored a hatred toward his parents, and that hatred extended to almost everyone and everything around him, producing a very troubled and damaged young kid. As Jay enters high school, he becomes very intrigued with one of his classmates. Kind of obsessed, actually. Her name: Mikayla Keeler. Mikayla is very unique, and like Jay, she doesn't seem to fit in with her contemporaries. Instead, the two of them keep each other company, and their friendship very quickly escalates into a romantic and intimate relationship. Despite having Mikayla, Jay's troubles continue to burden him. He and Mikayla are fighting habitually, his home life is still unbearable, and his time at school is hardly any better, made worse by a bully named Calvin. Their mutual dislike of one another leads to a lot of hostility, routinely leading to Jay being sent to his school's principal. One confrontation in particular goes much too far, resulting in Jay's expulsion from school. With everything seemingly piling up, Jay is very close to his breaking point, and late one night he is blindsided by the unthinkable, pushing him much too far and effectively planting in his mind a cruel and horrific plan for revenge.

For 17-year-old high school senior Evan Brooks, life could be better. He's a social outcast at school, stuck in a rural Alabama small town he never wanted to move to, and he's got a secret he's desperately trying to keep: he's gay. When he embarks on a weekend vacation to the Florida panhandle with his hypermasculine brother, homophobic stepdad, and aloof mother, none of them can anticipate how much a simple 3-day trip will change their lives forever... **2025 Update: Hi! This was my very first attempt at crafting an entire story from scratch all the way back in 2020, and I'd like to think my writing has since improved. I've started working on a big rewrite project, so stay tuned for a newly enhanced story! Please visit the last chapter (2025 Rewrite Info/Updates) for more details. In the meantime, the original story will remain here in full - just know that I know some parts of it are cringe lol. I hope you still enjoy it though! :) Some details have changed between this story and Road to Rockdale in anticipation of the rewrite, so please excuse some inconsistencies if you're coming from that story. I promise everything will line up eventually! CONTENT WARNING/TRIGGERS: Please note that this story contains very strong language at times and some mature themes. Some characters face emotional abuse. There is also a small amount of physical abuse, but it is mostly implied apart from one scene which is not extremely graphic. Some characters are homophobic, and a slur is used a handful of times.
