My hands were my eyes, feeling my way across the grime covered walls, my heart racing with the exhilaration. I strained to hear and see, but there was nothing… nothing but the sound of my last breaths. Suddenly, an evil odour invaded my nostrils, like the rotting filth of a thousand corpses. I couldn’t stand not knowing. Grinning madly, I switched on my torch and followed its harsh beam. Silence, heavy and still, surrounded me. Then, out of the black depths, came a blood curdling shriek, an inhuman shriek. There, pinned in the beam of my torch, I finally saw it..."
