It does get better.
People say it will get better. But to be fair, most of them never were in your place. They say you will get happy again, but how can they know? I've struggled with trauma, mental illnesses, and self harm for many years. These are (mostly) poems - about me and my journey of getting better. ! As this is about self harm and other previously mentioned topics, it might be triggering. I don't glorify it in any way, though. I'm also not a native English speaker. If you find any mistakes, please tell me so I can improve.
𝓒𝓱𝓻𝔂𝓼𝓪𝓷𝓽𝓱𝓮𝓶𝓾𝓶 (𝚁𝟷𝟾 - 𝚂𝚑𝚘𝚛𝚝 𝚂𝚝𝚘𝚛𝚢)
As we go through life, we meet people who deeply touch our hearts and change us in meaningful ways. They leave lasting marks on our souls, transforming who we are. The footprints they leave behind guide us towards growth, ensuring we can never retrace our steps to the person we once were. And then, there was him. We found each other at the precise moment when our souls were ready to collide. Love enveloped us, and in his arms, I discovered a deep sense of belonging. Everything felt right, as if the universe had conspired to bring us together. But life has a way of unraveling even the most beautiful stories. In a cruel twist of fate, the ground beneath us began to crumble. The very thing that had given us hope and joy now carried the weight of our lives, feelings, and emotions, threatening to snatch them all away. The perfect illusion shattered, leaving behind broken fragments of what once was. He is the one who taught me how to love. But as I stand here engulfed in his absence, I realize he forgot to teach me the most crucial lesson of all-how to let go. The pain of holding onto his memory is unbearable, yet I would endure it all, for it's a bittersweet reminder of the love we shared. I'd trade my everything for just one more moment with him, for even a fleeting moment holds more joy than a lifetime without knowing him. ❁❁❁ This is Book 3 of my Botanical Novel Series, but it can be enjoyed as a standalone book. Tangled Love
"You only live once." This is the overly used excuse that we use every time we make a decision and that's fine because it's true. This also goes with 'Love'. For once in our lives, we would eventually experience this love - the kind of love that just can't die. A love, though not being returned, we are still willing to take the risk. We expect that somehow, someday we will be rewarded. But how long can we give that love a chance? Are we really capable of giving so much without asking anything in return? Are we really capable of being happy, just seeing the person we love happy with someone else? How can we untangle something so twisted like LOVE? How can we survive without breaking? How can we live without hating? This isn't what friends do
Coming out must be hard but only doing so because you can no longer hide your feelings for your bestfriend is unimaginable. A story about falling in love after a long time coming... * "I'm jealous? I'm controlling? You couldn't even let a guy touch me in there without pushing them away. You're not so innocent yourself Brandon. Don't look at me like that." He caught my chin forcing my eyes up to his again. "Or what?" I asked my voice shaking. I don't know what he was trying to say but it was all true. My breath came out jittery, staggered and just like that he was pressing his lips into mine with such pressure. I didn't move for a second too scared what the hell this was. Time Can't Heal This
I've always hated the saying "Time heals all wounds." Maybe in most cases that may be true. In my experience with life and pain however, time has only ever bled out the wound. The scars that the wounds left behind though, are often so deep that just looking at them becomes painful to the mind. Time only heals what you let go of. Sometimes letting go and moving on just doesn't feel possible; no matter how much time you let pass you by. These poems signify what time hasn't healed for me.Completa
