The son of darkness and the daughter of light. Imagine if the two ever met. Could it bring peace or spread chaos?
Except when doing the curse, Regina did not realise that her son would be taken away but not the same way Emma was. They both eventually come back to Storybrooke.
Like Rumple said "All Magic Comes With A Price". He also said that the curse would leave a feeling of emptiness in Regina.

Emma didn't even try to suck up to the mayor, she didn't care about Henry's stories of her evil-doing, though she did believe him. She wasn't scared of Regina, so she had no love to fight. The town of Storybrooke was made by the Evil Queen (Regina Mills) from a curse that cursed the fairytale characters you love and know to a world without magic. Regina had long since used the magic of a Light Bringer, a creature of pure and unbridled magic far stronger than any fairy or Dark One, named Vasilisa the Beautiful, but with this great power the little girl has, comes pain and heart ache and orphanism. The family that had taken Vasilisa in while in the Enchanted Forest, had been Priscella, the daughter of Rumplestilskin, Mad Hatter and their daughter Grace. The Evil Queen controlled Vasilisa by her wand, and even though Vasilisa continued to try to use her power for good, the Queen still held her captive.
