The Fate Hidden in Shadows

Nysera has always belonged to the shadows.

Born a goddess of Noctyra, a realm neighboring Asgard, darkness bends to her will and fear answers when she calls.

For centuries, Asgard was almost a second home.

Its halls were familiar. Its royal family was dear to her.

And one particular prince once held far more of her heart than he deserved.

But betrayal has a way of changing even a goddess.

So when Thor makes Nysera a promise before leaving in search of his brother, she expects that one day he will call upon her.

She just doesn't expect that call to lead her to Earth.

To heroes.

To humans who are far more interesting than she ever imagined.

And to a future that, for the first time in her very long life, isn't quite as easy to see.

After all...

Not everything hidden in the shadows is meant to be feared.

A small smile pulled at her lips.

"You are a terrible liar."

He looked away, jaw tightening as though he'd been caught doing something far worse.

"You're a goddess. What exactly am I supposed to say to you?"

Nysera's smile softened.

"You could begin with my name."

His eyes found hers again.

For a moment, she instinctively reached for that familiar thread-the quiet pull of fate that had followed every living soul she'd encountered.

And found...

Nothing.

Her smile slowly disappeared.

He noticed.

"What?"

Nysera stared at him.

For the first time in centuries, she didn't have an answer.

"Nothing."

His eyebrow lifted.

"That didn't look like nothing."

No.

It certainly wasn't.
