As the world keeps spinning and time is unending, a young child named Victor grows up with a being called Spirit of Death. This spirit guides and talks to him throughout his life while showing him visions of harsh realities which ultimately gives him the choice of choosing Life or Death.

Long ago, 4 gods ruled over humanity since their beginning, but after growing bored, they decided to play a game with humanity. Dividing their power into 52 cards that give humans a part of their power, the gods then disappeared leaving behind a prophecy that said one card wielder would rule over them.
