In a small town called Fairhill, Philadelphia, a series of constant ongoing psychological abuse from Dorothy's mother, Jane Grace Anne, lead to the ultimate depletion of Dorothy's sanity and the befriending of her now best friend, James Fernsby. As James and Dorothy grow a close friendship, James seems to grow an unhealthy obsession with her. When Dorothy makes a desperate attempt to escape from James' obsessive behaviour, he tells her the truth which sends Dorothy's life into a downward spiral. Confronting her mother with this truth, she expected answers, however, Dorothy found herself abandoned and left with no choice other than to head for Theopalavos Island, a home for the insane.
