From 2009 through 2016 , 164 out of my 315 hearing clients (52%) received parole grants, and many of my writ clients had their writs granted in court. By the end of 2016, 179 of my clients have gone home to their families and friends. Since SB 260 and 261 were enacted, I have handled 29 Youthful Offender Parole Hearings, resulting in 19 grants of parole (66%). These client success stories have happened during a time when the Board has granted parole to less than 25% of inmates, including youthful offenders, who went to hearings.
