Francine Rivers was my favorite subject in college. I studied her instead of the textbook in Macroeconomics 101, which is why I almost flunked the first exam. Thanks to our bigmouth professor, the entire class knew I walked the line between academic probation and keeping my spot on Parrish University's basketball team.

The pretty brunette caught me off guard when she offered to help. After swallowing my pride, I decided to let her. What happened next surprised me even more. All of the evenings we spent studying and laughing in the cafeteria brought out feelings I'd never experienced with other girls.

I thought Francie felt the same way but was proved wrong when she stood me up at a party. Unwilling to completely let go, I settled for friendship as we got involved with other people. We drifted apart after graduation, but my soft spot for her never went away.

Fifteen years later, the truth about why Francie never showed up that night revealed itself.

I couldn't change the past. Teenage me had been a boy who didn't fight for what he wanted. But the man I'd become would go down swinging before allowing what had happened back then to get in the way of what I wanted now.

Kendall has always lived a quiet life in a small town in Illinois with her family, friends, and boyfriend Jordan. Her life had been mostly happy other than when her best friend moved away when she was 10. It took her years to get over that loss. Then several years later, tragedy struck when her father passed away suddenly and Kendall was forced to move with her mom closer to Chicago where she could find a job to support the two of them. Little does Kendall know that she is in for the surprise of a lifetime. From the book.... As he catches up to me, he grabs my arm swings me around and with one swift movement he ushers me into a nearby empty classroom with the lights off. He cages me in against the wall. His close proximity is making me dizzy and my mind is thinking very dirty thoughts. Wait no. I can't think like that anymore. "Kendall." He says hungrily. "You are mine and only mine. You drive me wild and no one else can have you." He says as he attacks my lips. It feels so amazing I can't help but kiss him back. I run my hands through his beautiful hair and he groans into the kiss. Man I don't want this to ever end. I feel drunk on him. I don't think I can let him go. He stops suddenly to finish his thoughts. "No one can make you feel like this. Or kiss you here...." He says as he kisses down my neck. I moan and he smirks pulling his face impossibly close to mine. "..or touch you." He says as he takes his hand and brushes it lightly down my arm and he snakes it back around my back pulling me even closer if that is possible. He finally stops at my ass which he squeezes delightfully and I hum in response. Warning: Contains graphic sexual content. Read at your own discretion. You will not be warned ahead of time. "The moon's really beautiful, if you think about it," I blurted. "Yeah?" he asked, mild amusement and curiosity mingling in his voice. "Yeah," I confirmed. "It's just- there's something about the moon that's ethereal. I don't really know how to describe it, but it's a constant in life. You can't always see it, but you have to trust that it's out there somewhere. And when you can see it, it's all bright and shiny and overcomes the darkness." I paused, searching for the right words. "I don't know. I guess it's a reminder that there are good things out there, even if you can't see them... And it's cool to think that someone hundreds of miles away is staring at the exact same moon as you. It makes me feel not so alone in life." Turning my head, I saw him staring at me intently with a thoughtful look on his face. "Too deep for a Friday night?" I laughed nervously, feeling my face grow hot. And this was precisely why I didn't go to parties. He shook his head and seemed to snap out of his daze. "It was deep in a good way." *** SHE was quiet & left out. Wattpad Creator! Happy and proud. HIM: Staying the night? Not my thing. Hearts and flowers? Boring. Falling in love? Not anytime soon. Settling down? Off the table. Getting married? You're kidding me, right? That was me before the night we first met. Because, well, meeting a hot chick that made me hard just by looking at her was definitely not in my plans when I sneaked out of a woman's apartment after what was already a long night. Taking her home and getting her a chocolate cake, though, was kind of intentional. But falling for her? Boy, that was pretty much inevitable. HER: He came out of nowhere, literally. I was there, sitting on that bench, barefoot and crying and just getting my heart broken in peace and silence. Then he appeared, all mad and furious and sexy and tall and just drool-worthy! And just like that, despite my poor attempts of escaping him, he had me wrapped in his world. A crazy yet heart-fluttering world, that I have absolutely no intentions of leaving anytime soon. ------- Character development is a main theme in this book. Nothing to lose

My best friend Greyson McNamara and I have been partners in crime for a while now. Pranks, sneaking out to go to parties, joy riding in our parents' cars, all that crazy teen stuff, we made a pact to do together. And surprise surprise, dating each other was never on that list. I mean it's not like Grey is a bad looking guy or anything. Wink wink. Now back to that no dating thing. For years, we heard about how we would be a cute couple and how we are perfect for each other. Of course, we always laughed it off until one day we didn't. Our senior year has ended with two back to back breakups and all we can think is that we have nothing to lose. That includes us thinking that it can't hurt to try to date each other for the summer before college. We made a promise to each other that we'll stay friends no matter what. Like I said we have nothing to lose. But what if I'm wrong?
