Life is a game and we are the players.

When a lightning bolt scattered across New York, half of its population gained superpowers. Anything from strength to speed, from healing to destruction, from mind control to mind reading.

Matthew, wasn't one of them. Labelled as an "anti-fortuna", he will have to live a life surrounded by "mutants". Anti-fortunas hating mutants. Mutants hating anti-fortunas. Anti-fortunas believing all mutants are freaks, and all mutants believing anti-fortunas are normies in society.

However, the "mutants" all have a unique goal and unique instructions to follow, if not they will be resigned to having superpowers forever, and in some extreme cases, killed off entirely.

Would you use your superpowers for the greater good, or would you use them for power and for ego?

And as if additional stress was required, Lightning's dark secret is discovered in a hunt for the 13th mutant. Will they be ready to battle the tyrannic government?

Joined by his new partner, Jenna Jones, he pursues a secretive manhunt for the Soldiers Of The New World, an underground E.H. crime organization that has a hand in all that is illegal, and their mysterious leader: String, who, seemingly, has eyes and ears everywhere. While Adlet and Jenna intend on doing this by the books, their unsavory past with two of String's captains may muddy their judgement, or, more accurately, it already has. As String's ambitions grow beyond just controlling the city's underbelly Adlet and Jenna are forced to take action with an ally he did not desire. While prejudice against E.H.s reaches it's peak because of a horrific tragedy, the Soldiers of the New World waste no time to expand their reach and rally for their cause of taking over the city. Adlet goes to the edge of sacrificing everything and back again. On the way, betrayal awaits at every corner. The patients started to come back to life, but the weren't the same as before. They start displaying mysterious side effects, the company that created them tries to hide them from the public. Ben Taylor is one of those such patients. It's their eyes. Look into an abyss of blues with rows of symbols circling around the pupil to know the truth. The only way to beat them is to destroy the heart. Once found out, the mutants turn to their real form. They become beasts of legend. Serpants that dwell deep in the sea. Lizards that grow in size and take flight to the skies. Hounds that double or triple in size and spew the elements. And many more shapes, colors, and sizes. Once transformed the heart is shown involuntarily, simply dangling around the neck like a pendant. To slow the damage, scientists created L.O.V.E, short for Living Off Vital Emotions, a nanovaccine that numbs the virus and switches off all strong emotions. As a last resort and with a dying planet, the Supreme Government created the City, a place to contain the infected survivors suitable for the experiment. Those in the first stages of illness became ideal candidates to receive the neuroinhibitor. Having their feelings restrained and their memory altered, those who come of age are designated a life partner through a Selection process, thus preserving the humankind. A few decades after the trial had started, scientists had a major breakthrough. The nanites, which are highly chemically reactive organisms, are changing their bio-engineered purpose when dopamine levels are high. With a new generation of nanoids, stronger and smarter to fight the battle, the virus doesn't have a chance. Many attempts were made to create a man-made version of synthetic dopamine and each time the outcome was a disaster. Their goal is to create new generations, immune to the virus. These are called Purebloods, the offsprings of those who find pure love, the only cure to save them from a violent death. Running out of time, the Experiment entered in its final stages. To minimize the threats, the Colonies have sent their best soldiers to oversee the trial and protect its key subjects. If only things were going according to plan, or better...stay hidden.
