If you asked anyone who Gwyneth Barrett is, they'd have a lot of things to say about her. Her classmates at her preppy high school would tell you that she's a perfect role model, but her friends in Brooklyn would call her haunted.

If one described Ezekiel Branson they'd call him a quiet and observant child of a multimillionaire family- who was blessed with devilishly good looks and a fine taste for fashion.

Their school peers only see one side to each of them, never knowing the truth behind the masks. Being the children of two wealthy families comes with many secrets. Wealth isn't as glamorous as one would hope.

The two have hardly crossed paths, until their father's decide to make a business deal, throwing their eighteen year old children's lives onto the same track.

Neither Ezekiel or Gwyneth are who they seem. Nothing would be the same after they meet and secrets are revealed, and lives are destroyed on the Upper East Side of New York.

They are the perfect Duet Of Deceit.

________________

To some, words are words.
To Gwyneth Barrett, those big and scary words are the ones that follow her into her sleep. In school they teach you to say 'no' in dangerous situations, or when you are denying consent. Saying no has never been an option for Gwyneth. That's a luxury that she doesn't get, no matter the cost of her own sanity and wellbeing.
What her father wills, goes.
The monster creates those big and scary words.

"Fuck." He whispers into my neck, sending a thrill of excitement through my body. His lips still smothered kisses over my neck and his hands roamed my body, starting at my chest, going down to my stomach. Caressing my soft skin, his thumb trailed circles on my groin before slightly slipping into the waistband of my jeans. My breath catches in my throat as I pull at the hoodie that covered his chiselled body. Understanding, Jacob pulls it off in one swift movement before attaching his lips back on my neck. Sucking and biting it before flicking his tongue over the sore spot. A quiet moan leaves my mouth and I clasp my hand over it, denying any noise to escape. "You drive me fucking crazy, Aria." ---------------------------- Aria Bailey finds it hard to fit in. Her parents are always busy and never have time for her. "I want to help you." His bright eyes sparkle in the moonlight. "You can't help me! You hurt me!" By now, the tears I had been desperately trying to hold back finally slip out. "They hurt you!" As he yells, the anger in his voice eases out; his eyes are filled with familiar sadness. "I have nowhere else to go." I shoot back, taking a step away from him, afraid he will strike me as everyone else does. As soon as he notices this, his eyes widen, and his fists relax. "Come with me." He responds, hope gleaming in his eyes. I look up at the bright moon shining down on us as the breeze ruffles my hair. "Come with you?" I question. Just as he nods my dizziness takes over, sending me to the ground. His hands wrap around me, barely catching me. "Don't let them hurt me." I whisper, looking into his eyes, trying to not let the spinning world take me. "They won't hurt you anymore. Ever." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Tivelly always seemed like the popular girl, always filling the room with her laughs and bright smiles. The Contrast Effect by PxnkPxnther

Dallas Donovan's parents divorced when he was six. His little sister, Tessa, went with their mom, while he stayed with his dad. It wasn't the usual messy, bitter split - quite the opposite. Both parents love their kids and co-parent peacefully. But no matter how much love remains, they can never be the family they once were. And that truth gnaws at Dallas more than he'll ever admit. He hates math with a burning passion but surprisingly loves biology - not that anyone expects the basketball star to enjoy dissecting frogs and memorizing cell structures. Then there's Kiera Davenport. The new girl. She's a walking contradiction - quiet but bold, cold but captivating. She's not a fan of any subject but somehow excels in all of them. On the field, she's Ravenwood High's star football player. Off the field, she posts dance challenges on Instagram, earning thousands of followers - and making boys practically drool. Not that she cares. Their sweet, overly optimistic biology teacher decides to play matchmaker, pairing students to help them "bond." Dallas and Kiera end up stuck together - no surprise, considering the teacher's obvious (and painfully unsubtle) attempts to ship them. The real question is: what does fate has in-store for them? Some stories are written by choice. Others - the unforgettable ones - are written by fate. --- "You're different," I muttered before I could stop myself. She blinked. "What?" I hesitated. "I mean... compared to school. You're-" I gestured vaguely at her oversized T-shirt, the ridiculous F.R.I.E.N.D.S. lyrics on it, her messy bun, the way she just-was. "Different." Something flickered in her gaze, but she just shrugged. "That's what happens when people only see what they want to see," she said simply, turning back to the stove. I didn't have a response for that. .................................... (Editing & Republishing)
