After her dad was killed during duty, Wendla and her family became depressed. They weren't the same. Their family had fallen apart. They lost all hope in becoming normal again.

But when her mom finds new love, that inspires her sister to change. Then Wendla herself started to be herself again. She even meets a boy. Seven years later, though they never had fully gotten over his death, they finally are happy once again.
