Features Aurors Lupin and Black investigating the case and bonding through gardening in their free time, while a new, chirpy co-worker James Potter annoys Remus at his part time job at a bakery and a big, black dog is breaking his heart by suddenly no longer trusting him.

Or: The one where Remus's head is a messy place.

Quote:

"You once said that your perfect world would be 'never without one of us', but I didn't believe that you'd still think so. Where did we take the wrong turn, then?"

Remus had to look away from Sirius. His words didn't belong here, not in this garden, not in this sunny day. There was sharp pain hidden behind those words that could cut a heart open that made him want to steer away. "Stop being so weird and come help me. Dinner won't make itself."

30 parts Complete

When Sirius Black, who changes girls like underwear (so shockingly, quite often), finally finds himself a long-term girlfriend, everyone in Hogwarts thinks he must be the happiest man alive. But he isn't. Maggie isn't his soulmate, and while he likes her, he still lacks something, or someone, special. And so does Remus Lupin, who (as always) seems to be the only person in Hogwarts to notice that something's up. Maybe it's just that he doesn't like Maggie or her dick jokes and thinks that only he can be enough for Black. Maybe... but Lupin isn't going to rest until he and Sirius go out together at least once.
