Guardians---beings gifted by the gods with a unique magic to transform their physical appearance into that of a powerful, divine beast. They are tasked with safeguarding the two chosen bloodlines, risking life and limb to protect them.

Ryella is one of the last known Guardians. She and her brother have watched over Lady Lunafreya for years, waiting for the day when the prophecy would be fulfilled, and the Starscourge eradicated. With the Oracle's marriage to the prince of Lucis approaching, her Guardians are prepared to accompany her to Altissia for the wedding. But what no one expected was for another Guardian to show his face. A monstrous black dragon cloaked in darkness, bringing about daemons with a mere flick of his wings.

Ryella, coping with many losses, finds herself alone in the unfamiliar territory of Lucis. Sad, scared, and injured, she begins to doubt her worth and lose hope until a chance encounter reunites her with an old friend, Prince Noctis himself. With her new friends, will Ryella be able to rise up once more as a Guardian? Or will she crumple and fall to her fears and past experiences? And more importantly, will she allow herself to love again when a certain gunman begins vying for her affections?
