Seventeen year old Casey Stevenson has the average life of any teenager: get up, go to school, come home, hang out with friends (we'll just exclude the part where her boyfriend is the most popular guy in school, her friends are a gaggle of crazy weirdos, and her family is super rich).
However, when she suffers through a breakup and the dramatic aftermath, it's the people she is closest to that help her get through it (except that most of the help comes from the mysterious, hot, new guy in school).
Carter Hill is that hot new guy in school: instantaneously popular, always charismatic, and a player (but at heart, he's actually sweet, gentle and suffering from negative, unseen forces that he wishes to keep confined to the furthest corners of his struggling mind).
