For the first time since I'd started spending the nights at his chambers the prince was still here in the morning.
"We need to talk."
"Sorry, I screamed in my sleep?" I said, confused that he felt the need to discuss it.
"Its not about that." He said eyeing me intensely. "After breakfast I need you here."
"Okay." I said and couldn't help myself when I continued. "Your highness."
His expression grew cautious but only for a second.
And now a few hours later I was sitting on his leather couch waiting for some conversation to take place. Once the prince entered his chambers it didn't take him long to get to his point.
"May 21 was the day you were supposed to die."
"Yes?"
"Why?"
I raised my brows. "I assume you know why."
The prince of Melenai smirked at me. "Because you and your father started a riot." The man sat down on a canopy facing me. "You got the whole village to risk their lives. You made 200 people stand up for themselves. But more importantly, you made them follow you. Even if they were to die."
I felt my heart pang for I didn't see it that way. "I told people I would no longer live like this. Don't make me some leader."
"But you have been a leader to them." He said, then slouched, a devious smile curving his lips. "So I have a proposition for you."
"I am not interested."
